How To Teach Reading

Add 1 ( Why teach reading? )
To be able to read text in English either for careers,study purpose,and simply for pleasure.Good reading text can introduce interesting topics,stimulate discussion,excite imaginative responses and be the spring board for well rounded,fascinating lesson.

Add 2 ( What kind of reading should student do? )
There is some authentic written material which beginner students can understand to some degree : menus,timetable,signs,and basic instructions.
Are science students,reading scientific texts may be a priority.

Add 3 ( What reading skills should students acquire?
* One of the teachers main function when training students to read is not only to
persuade them of the advantages of skimming and scanning,also to make them see
that the way they read is vitally important.
* Students need to be able to scan the text for particular bits of information they
they are searching for.
* Students need to be able to skim the text.

Add 4 ( What are the principles behind the teaching of reading? )
* Students need to be engaged with what they are reading.
* Student should be encouraged to respond to the contain of reading text,not just to
the language.
* Prediction is major factor in reading.
* Match the task to the topic.
* Good teachers exploit reading texts to the full.

Add 5 ( What do reading sequences look like? )
1.For elementary.
When the students have read the text,the teacher allows them to discuss their
answer in pairs.
2.For lower intermediate.
3.For intermediate.
4.For intermediate to advanced.

Add 6 ( More reading suggestions )
1.They amplify the ads into description.
2.Students read jumbled instructions for simple operation.
3.Students read a recipe and after matching instruction with pictures,they have to
cook the food!(elementary/intermediate).
4.Students read an extract from a play of film.
5.Students are given a number of words from a text.
6.Students have to match a topic sentence with the paragraph they come from.
7.Studens read a text and have to guess which of group of people they thing wrote
the text.
8.Students read a narrative with the end missing.
9.Students read a fact file about the country,population,nation,or process etc.

Gerund as Object :
* I don't like fishing
* She likes singing
* She likes dancing

Gerund as Complements
* Her job is sorting the mail
* My hobby is climbing

Gerund after Prepositions
* Are you interested in collecting stamps?
* I am sorry for coming late
* Before eating,you should pray first
* On opening the window,I saw the wind was blowing quickly
* I will inform you after finding the result

If Preposition "To" begain the word bellow (advance to, confess to, object to, dedicated to, to be used to, get used to, to be accustomed to, key to, look forward to, to be opposed to, must be use gerund
* This is dedicated to respecting his many service
* John confessed to stealing the money
* She objects to accepting his love
